Hello and Happy (very hot) Tuesday!
Yesterday was a very exciting day. The Borders near my office is closing and having a big sale! I was a loyal employee of Borders for several years in college so it breaks my heart a little to see one go. But since it also means mega-discounts, I guess there’s an upside :).
Most books were a mere 20-30% off which I’m not sure is the greatest deal considering Amazon usually offers about that same price. BUT I did find one gem: a Nigella Lawson cookbook – usually $35 – for a mere $6!! What a find. Nigella is my fave chef in the universe. Who’s yours??
The other purchase that I just had to make was a Lindt “Touch of Sea Salt” chocolate bar. After seeing rave reviews everywhere I have been wanting to try one and Borders is the only place I’ve seen them. But since my chocolate stash is quite full at the moment, I’ve been holding off. However now the store is closing (and with a 20% discount) I knew I had to seize the opportunity.
Not even $10 for such happiness. I’ll report back when I try the chocolate!
So sorry to disappoint but I did not attend Body Jam yesterday night. I just don’t think dance is my cardio activity of choice. But I did spend 30 minutes on the treadmill and also did some abs and arms strength training. If anyone else is brave enough to participate in that class you’ll have to let me know what you think! And I will share with all of you :).
Too hot for oats in their conventional form this morning, so instead I ate them raw.
Vanilla Chobani Greek yogurt, 1/3 cup of fruity date oatmeal topped with a tbsp. of ground flax, a kiwi and a little blob of Peanut Butter & Co. Dark Chocolate Dreams Peanut Butter. And you can see me taking the picture in my spoon! Such intensity.
See you tomorrow!

he he he… I won’t judge you for not going to that class. I love the idea of dance cardio, but I don’t have enough confidence to attempt it in front of people… lol
Nice work on hitting the sales! 🙂
Nigella is awesome. Gorgeous, indulgent, and her food looks delicious! I’ve never made one of her recipes though.
Never heard of her–but with you and Samantha, I’m intrigued. It’s sad when a book store goes out of business.
I LOVE that chocolate! I buy it at Target whenever I make a trip!
Super jealous of your great Borders find! It is a shame that they’re closing, I would to go Borders a lot to write since they have free internet (and free AC is this miserable heat).
You will love the chocolate! Last summer I made homemade marshmallows and that sea salt chocolate for smores on the grill – everyone raved about them!
um, DROOL!
Love a sale at a book store! Too bad you couldn’t find more, but maybe they will reduce stuff even more!
I’m not coordinated to go to a class like that!
Whoa! That’s really neat how the choc bar completely matches the cover of the book, even the little bit of red on each. Sorry I’m such a dork, I just thought it looked neat! Lol! I’ve been wanting to try that choc myself, so def report back!
haha, great eye! i didn’t notice that at all 🙂
i love nigella also – her cooking shows are what first turned me on to my food network obsession!
I stopped at the Walgreens in Clarendon last night for some Gatorade, and the checkout counter happened to be right in front of the candy aisle. So I took a peek, and they have that chocolate bar! I should have checked the price, but I definitely thought to check there after reading your post! If you trek out to Clarendon for some yummy gelato at Boccato, you could walk up the street and pick up some chocolate too!
YES! Any night with gelato AND chocolate sounds like heaven to me! Thanks for the tip :).
