Holy WOW did we have an amazing dinner last night. Every time I go out for a nice meal, I’m always hoping that it’ll be one of those dreamy, couldn’t-have-been-any-better experiences. And last night was definitely one of those occasions! 🙂
My roommates and I went to PS 7’s, which I’ve been to once before. When I first moved in to the area, I asked my foodie friend at work what her favorite restaurant was. I had a friend visiting from out of town and I wanted to choose somewhere impressive! PS 7’s was her recommendation. We had an excellent meal there but to be honest I didn’t remember it so well, since it kind of got lost in the blur of my first few hectic months in DC.
So I’m so glad we went back last night so that I could take in the full experience!
First, the drink. It was perhaps my favorite drink that I’ve ever had, anywhere. I ordered the Cross Pollenation – Evan Williams Honey + Bluecoat gin + citrus dust + bitter spritz
Do you see that my friends!? A pollenating BEE on top! Not only was the artwork highly impressive, the drink was delicious. I love a well-made cocktail :).
And now, the food.
Delightful bread sampling.
Nutty Goat Flat Bread (V) – Savory walnut butter, goat qouda cheese, arugula and toasted shallots
SO flavorful. Beth D. and I both had this and agreed that if this was only the beginning we were in for a treat!
Fluke – leeks, cherry tomatoes, fava beans, lobster vanilla buerre blanc
They had me at lobster vanilla buerre blanc. I’d never heard of such a thing before! What a fabulous combination.
Chocolate Blackout Cake – Strawberry and sweet cream
Anyone else notice a close resemblance to a certain cupcake!? CLEVER PS 7’s. A chocolate cake exterior and a middle filled with lovely, sweet cream. Of course it was MUCH better than it’s store bought counterpart :).
And my lovely roommates! Nicole, me, Beth D. (Allison was not able to make it).
Perfection. Really.
See you tomorrow!
– Beth
PS: I’m updating my Blog Roll and moving it to its very own tab. If you’d like to be included, just shoot me an email!
That drink is so fun! WHo knew they could make a picture on top?
Gotta love what a bartender can do 🙂
Hope you keep me on the blogroll!
But of course! You’re there :).
Oh wow, all that looks insanely delicious! Especially the cupcake!
That meal really does look amazing. I’m planning a trip to D.C. soon, so I’ll keep this in mind. Thanks!
Umm I wouldn’t even care if the food was horrible, that drink is AMAZING!!!! The ingredients sounded awesome enough and then I saw the bee on it and died! But really, everything looked good! 🙂

District of Columbia. I live in Washington, DC :).
Wow! Everything looks amazing! I’m so glad I found this blog. I lived in Alexandria for a while, fell in love with DC, and now am headed to Silver Spring, MD before years end. I’m really anxious to move and have been watching Top Chef and the real housewives in order to prep for the big move! I kid, I kid…. kind of… But yeah this is even better!
Oh well welcome (in advance) to the area! I LOVE it here and think you will too :).
